Champagne #2

Champagne #2
This painting is rich with transparent textures that give it an unusual quality. There is an upward movement in the shapes, especially the round shapes. Could they be bubbles? Where are they coming from? Could the white shape symbolize a glass of champagne? This composition says so many things. The artist’s focus while creating this painting was on depth, variety, upward movement, and many, many layers of color. The following poem by the artist, Susan Lackey, was inspired by this artwork.
Bubbles, small and large, reflect colors from all around.
Seem to be floating, moving up with a popping sound.
A tall stemmed glass, flared bowl at the top
Contains them all, or maybe not!
Too much champagne, strange things, you will sight.
But just enough to warm you, will be a delight.
