Across the Rooftops
Across the Rooftops
My intention with this painting is to show an abstracted view of rooftops clustered tightly in an urban setting. Some of the rooftop shapes become other rooftops if you look closely. The straight, hard edged shapes are contrasted with curvilinear patterns giving it an active rhythm. This is one of those must-have paintings if you are looking for a colorful piece that will entertain you for years to come. You could look at this painting for hours! The following poem by the artist, Susan Lackey, was inspired by this artwork. The following poem by the artist, Susan Lackey, was inspired by this artwork.
You see these homes up on the hill
Some tall, some wide, some standing so still.
But the top is not what, that makes that view.
It’s the pattern of roofs reaching up in the blue.
Pointed or flat or with a slope so steep
The rhythm’s so lively, you’ll want to dance and leap!
So, see that rhythm, and see that flow.
Such a happy place, you have to know.
